What does Option Plus do?

Option Plus lets merchants add and manage custom product options (text fields, dropdowns, checkboxes, image swatches) and create virtual product variants without editing theme code.

How do I install and enable the app?

Install the app from your Shopify admin app store. After installation, open Option Plus from your Apps list and follow the setup wizard to connect to your store and enable the script/snippet if required by your theme.

Will Option Plus work with my Shopify theme?

Option Plus is compatible with most Shopify themes. For themes with heavy customizations, we provide clear instructions to add a small theme snippet. No coding is required for standard themes.

What is a virtual variant and how is it used?

A virtual variant is an option that appears like a product variant but does not create a separate Shopify variant. It lets you sell configurable options (e.g., gift wrap, personalization) without increasing variant counts in Shopify.

How do I bulk import options?

Use the Bulk Import feature to upload CSV or JSON files. The app validates the file and shows any errors before creating options. You can import up to 50 options at once.

How are option values stored?

Option Plus stores option data using Shopify metafields. Variant values use a JSON structure where `values` are arrays of objects (for example: [{"name": "Red","url":"..."}]).

Can I edit options on the product page?

Yes. The app provides an edit flow so you can update or remove options directly from the product editor in the app interface, making management fast and simple.

Does Option Plus affect checkout or inventory?

Option Plus adds option selections to the cart and order as line item properties or metafields where applicable. Virtual variants do not create separate inventory items unless you explicitly map them to Shopify variants.

Is customer data stored or shared?

Option Plus stores only data required for functionality (store, cart, product, and theme data). We follow Shopify and GDPR guidelines and do not share merchant data with third parties.

Troubleshooting: options not appearing on product page?

Check that the theme snippet is installed and the product is linked to the option set. Clear theme caches or re-publish the theme if you have multiple theme versions. If the issue persists, contact support with a screenshot and product URL.
